Demands
within the City of Marysville, OH, water system have increased
steadily in the past 5 to 10 years due to continued growth and
associated population increases. Consequently, the City will
initiate a $20 million construction effort next year which includes
an inflatable dam and reservoir.
Special Features
The
4.5-foot-high
inflatable diversion
dam (one of the first of its kind
built in Ohio) and 1.4-billion-gallon reservoir will help to ensure
that sufficient supply is
available to meet future City water system needs.
Project Components
Replacing
an existing surface water supply system, the reservoir will convey water by gravity through a 24-inch raw
water main to an existing water treatment plant. It
will be built on a 180-acre upland site.
The Upland Reservoir project also includes a 40
MGD raw water pumping station on Mill Creek that will pump flow
through a 36-inch raw water main to the reservoir site. A raw water
intake on Mill Creek is provided behind the diversion dam. The design
additionally includes
18,000 LF of raw water line.
Long-Term Vision
The construction effort is a result of Gannett Fleming planning and
design for a new raw water supply that will service the City through the year
2022.
